Main School Reception Admissions
Children are admitted to Kingsthorpe Grove Primary School in the September after their fourth birthday. The published admission number (PAN) for the Reception year of entry is 60. In order to support your child's transition we stagger the entries and at first they will only attend for half days. After a few weeks most of the children will attend school full-time. We hold meetings with all parents of reception children who have been awarded a place at our school in the June before they start school. At this meeting you will be informed of everything that you need to know to help you child settle into our school and the arrangements for your child starting, such as which days are half days, etc. The children themselves are invited to spend time in the classroom on at least two occasions before they begin school in September. Once children start in our Reception class you will be offered a home visit. This gives an opportunity for our staff to see your child in their home setting and discuss things with you that will help to make there start at our school the very best it can be.
If you are considering sending your child to Kingsthorpe Grove, you should contact the school to arrange a visit and find out about the application procedure. The application process is online and is run by Northamptonshire County Council. They have strict admission criteria for the allocation of places to its primary schools. Information about the criteria for admissions, appeals, closing dates for applications and about schools within the authority is published annually and is available on their website.
Main School Nursery Admissions
We have two sessions for our Nursery, mornings and afternoons. We have a maximum of 26 places in each session. Children are admitted to Kingsthorpe Grove Primary School Nursery in the September of the year they have their fourth birthday. Allocation of places to our Nursery are based on a first come first served basis. When you know that you would like your child to come to our setting, the earlier you can inform us the better. You can telephone the school or email our pupil administrator on to find out how to apply for a place at our Nursery.
It should be noted that there is no automatic right of allocation of place at our Reception, if your child attends our Nursery.
